Summer Camps Draw Nearly 500 Players
The Tommy Hutton Baseball Academy wrapped up a successful summer camp campaign on August 9th, 2019. Nearly 500 players ages 5-14 attended one of the THBA’s nine summer camp sessions held at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
“This summer will go down as one of the most successful camp seasons we’ve had in recent memory. The turnout was outstanding but more importantly we started seeing the type of results we’ve always strived for since opening in 2000. The staff was enthusiastic from start to finish, the kids were learning, and the well organized structure we’ve become known for was a constant. As a result, a number of our students made tremendous breakthroughs!” commented camp director Brian Justine.
Among the many highlights was a weekly camp takeover by the Miami Marlins where THBA students were treated to 1-2 hours of instruction from some of the Marlins top young players, including Victor Mesa, Jr. and Nasim Nunez. Additionally, Friday’s featured an opportunity to train on the stadium’s main field followed by an awards presentation where every player received an evaluation and complimentary ticket to attend a Jupiter Hammerheads game. Every Monday, the morning instructional block featured infield training. Players learned the 6F’s of playing the infield and then applied the lesson through drills and game simulation. Each afternoon, the good folks from Roger Dean paid a visit and issued Fins and Feather kids club membership cards and shirts to every THBA participant. Off site visits to Bahama Bucks and Golden Cub mini-golf were also a big hit throughout the summer!
The Tommy Hutton Baseball Academy returns to action over the Thanksgiving Break with a 3 day camp scheduled for Monday, November 25-Wednesday, November 27. Registration is underway with daily options available. Click here to register.
