Tommy Hutton Returns to Marlins Broadcasts

One of the most familiar voices in Marlins history is returning to television.

Our very own Tommy Hutton, Marlins color commentator from 1997 to 2015, will return to the booth as a pre and post-game analyst on Fox Sports Florida, the network announced on Saturday afternoon. He will make his debut on Monday, when the Marlins host the Giants, and be on air for select games.

In announcing the move on air during the fourth inning of the Padres-Marlins game, Hutton said most of the games would be after the All-Star break.

Hutton helped provide the soundtrack for both Marlins World Series championships, along with the team’s transition through different ownership groups, various trades and their move into Marlins Park.

Hutton’s departure from the broadcast booth was controversial after the 2015 season, when his 11-year partnership with Rich Waltz was ended. Hutton was a popular figure among fans for his honest takes and sometimes sharp criticism of the team.
