Hutton Academy Continues to Partner With MLB Youth Programs

The Tommy Hutton Baseball Academy continues to engage in partnerships that help grow the game’s popularity at the youth level. Among the programs the THBA participates in are Major League Baseball’s two most popular youth outreach programs, the Jr. HR Derby and Pitch, Hit, and Run.
Held annually in northern Palm Beach County, this years competitions took place on April 28th at Jupiter Christian School where THBA founder Brian Justine is the Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Director. The day began at 1pm with the Jr. HR Derby followed immediately by Pitch, Hit & Run.
The Jr. Hr Derby produced two very talented champions. In the 12u division, lefty Justin Breitenstein (pictured above) out of Estero, FL hit six mammoth home runs out of ten total swings. Local standout John Bello, Jr. took home the championship in the 14u division, crushing 5 home runs of his own.
The Pitch, Hit and Run competition was highlighted by 14 year old Drake Flowers. He was crowned all-around champion in the 13/14 division. Flowers won the PHR national championship two years ago as a twelve year old. Flowers accumulated over 1,000 points at the THBA local competition. Other All-around champions were Holt Flowers, Owen Hewitt, and Trent Flowers.
Winners from the THBA local competition will advance to sectional competition next weekend in Atlanta (Jr HR Derby) and West Palm Beach (PHR) respectively.
